Our Kitchen Stories journey is gaining pace, unveiling personal tales of life, love and adventure as experienced through the prism of a home-baked signature dish. We are hopeful that our series of portraits, interviews and recipes will make it to the shelves of a bookshop near you!

With this in mind we don’t want to post too many spoilers on here so you’ll find our bloggings hop randomly around the culinary compass; from our personal take on bakeware, summer picnics and tasty recipes to insight into the minds and shopping lists of Britain’s brightest foodies – check out our regular new section ‘Five Bites’ for some choice morsels on kitchen wisdom.

Back at Kitchen Stories HQ, it’s literally a moveable feast and we continue to be humbled by the outpouring of generosity and warmth we receive on each and every one of our visits to WI members around the country. Our latest jaunt to meet Mary Young of Forest Gate WI last month was no exception…

As with many of our profiles, we’d been tipped off on the glory of Mary’s baking by one of her fellow WI members and a phone call later, we had no doubt that Mary’s recipes – teamed with her fastidious, creative approach to baking – was the stuff of legend. After a three-hour shoot she whisked us off to the opening of a local city garden where we chatted over cake and smelled the roses. Thank you to both Forest Gate WI and to Mary, for welcoming us into your home.
